Committed to creating a more sustainable world, one French Press Bistro Set at a time.

Bodum, Inc., a Switzerland-based kitchenware manufacturer originally founded in 1944, is no stranger to social responsibility. Since its early years, BODUM has been striving to create products that not only benefit the consumer, but the planet as well. From production initiatives across their factories to reach their goal of being carbon neutral by 2023, to their commitment of only working with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified wood suppliers when developing product, BODUM’s transparency about their efforts to leave this world a better place than they found it is nothing short of inspirational.

CARBON NEUTRAL PRODUCTION BY 2023

BODUM has focused on a greener production for the last 30 years. Today, 70% of BODUM’s energy used is self-produced, with 20% water savings in production and the recycling of 100% of plastic PP/SAN to be used again.  Combined with adopting some of the most robust green technologies available today (such as wind power and photovoltaic panels), BODUM has committed to carbon neutral production in all of their facilities by 2023. Aiming to prevent emissions at the source of the pollution, other practices such as reduction of re-processing needs, reducing the number and/or quantity of hazardous materials, and improving thermal isolation throughout the building and tank walls to avoid heat loss all contribute to achieving their 2023 goal.

SUSTAINABLE BREWING

The British Coffee Association reported two billion cups of coffee are being consumed worldwide each day.  Aiming to eliminate the use of single-use plastics, BODUM is an active participant in initiatives such as Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) and MOnitoring Recyclates for Europe (MORE), two organizations focused on protecting the environment and creating a circular economy.  As a result, BODUM’s Aveiro factory began designing and manufacturing travel mugs, double-wall glasses, bottles and beakers into a single piece. Not only does this prevent leaking, no welding is required to produce these pieces, saving even more energy in production.

BETTER TOGETHER

While social responsibility is at the foundation of all BODUM does and continues to do, it’s not their main priority; the wellbeing of production employees is their top concern.  Focused on DEI initiatives, BODUM is committed to reaching a gender balance across all production facilities.  Furthermore, they actively contribute to stimulating the local communities of those they hire through the support of local charitable causes in those various communities. BODUM’s transparency regarding their advocacy for personal and professional development for all employees isn’t to be taken lightly.  Premium health benefits, physical and mental, are not only given to all employees, but to their families, too.

Fernando Monteiro, BODUM Portuguesa CEO, recently stated “Looking after the planet’s resources, using them wisely and living in harmony with the environment has never been more important than it is now.”  We couldn’t agree more, and we are proud to partner with a retail brand who doesn’t just make cool, quality products your clients are bound to love this holiday selling season, but who transparently shares our values in creating a more sustainable world, one French Press Bistro Set at a time.
